After a tragic accident, Dorothy, a little girl is left without hearing and is traumatised.
Her mother, Grace, through guilt and wanting the best for her daughter, arranges a new school and a birthday party for her but only one boy turns up. The very boy
who has taunted Dorothy in her new school and a clown, Arty Farty. The clown, called Arthur, connects with the little girl and is attracted to her mother but has another side
to his life. Grace's mother in law thinks she sees through the clown and tries to protect her daughter in law... but from what? Life just does not run a smooth path.
