A Connecticut Family divided through the struggle of the American Wars of Independence. Fyler, son of a Connecticut Clergyman, a lawyer and Captain in the Connecticut Army stands proud to be descended from England. His beliefs are that the colony should pay dues to the United Kingdom for the war with France. It is not the belief of his brother Ebenezer so although they are friends there loyalties are divided. The struggle becomes immense after Fyler and his family are left devastated after the Rebels burn down his house and he is force to flee after threats against his family. Life does not get easier for Fyler and his wife so he plans to start a new begining in a new land. As the family prepare to leave the protection of the British Forces they once again are plundered and Fyler is taken prisoner by the rebels.
